What is podiatry?
Podiatry is the healthcare profession focused on the feet, ankles and lower limbs. Podiatrists assess, diagnose and treat everything from foot pain, corns, calluses and ingrown toenails to more complex problems affecting how you walk and move.
What we treat
Your appointment starts with an assessment of your feet and lower limbs, followed by advice and treatment. Depending on what you need, this may include:
- Nail care
- Fungal nails
- Ingrowing nails, including nail surgery
- Corns and calluses
- Foot and ankle pain
- Orthotics and insoles
- Verruca needling
- Gait analysis
When to get in touch
You don't need to wait until a problem is painful or affecting your everyday life. If you've noticed a change, have ongoing discomfort, or something doesn't feel quite right, it's worth getting it checked. And if you've lived with a foot problem for months or even years, it's not too late: many conditions can be treated or managed well.
Common questions
How long does an appointment take?
Your first appointment takes 45 minutes, so there's time to understand your concerns, assess your feet and talk through the options. Follow-ups usually take 30 minutes.
What happens at my first appointment?
We'll talk about your symptoms and medical history and carry out a thorough assessment, including checking the pulses and sensation in your feet, then explain what we've found. Where appropriate we can start treatment straight away and recommend any further care.
Can podiatry help with foot and heel pain?
Yes. We'll assess your feet, movement and symptoms to understand what's causing the pain, then recommend a plan, which may include treatment, exercises, footwear advice, orthotics or insoles.
Is podiatry suitable for children?
Yes, for children of all ages, particularly if you're worried about their feet, the way they walk or move, their posture, nails or skin.
